in Mount Vernon |

The Foundation for the Baltimore Leadership
School for Young Women (Foundation) is pleased to announce
that the Foundation has purchased the historic YWCA building
at 128 West Franklin Street in Baltimore City. The Foundation
will renovate the structure to house the Baltimore Leadership
School for Young Women (BLSYW), Baltimore’s first all-girls
public secondary school. BLSYW will open in the new facility
next September with 220 students in the 6th and 7th grade.
The school will eventually serve 650 young
women in grades 6-12. “Finding this building
is a dream come true for our school, we are educating our
girls to become the leaders of their community and in this
location our students will be surrounded by the finest business,
philanthropic and artistic leaders in the city of Baltimore.”
Brenda Brown Rever, Foundation Chair. Baltimore City Public
Schools supported the Foundation in the agreement to purchase
and renovate the YWCA. “City Schools is very pleased
to have the Baltimore Leadership School for Young Women
move into their new location. This flagship school represents
another excellent choice for families, as we continue to
build a portfolio of great schools for every one of our
great kids.” Andres Alonso, City Schools, CEO |
