abilities who express an interest in attending an all girls school.
BLSYW will help young women achieve their greatest potential through an
intensive middle school program in preparation for a rigorous academic
high school experience. BLSYW will build partnerships with cultural,
academic and business institutions across the city to expose the
students to the amazing experiences that can come from living in a
diverse city. |

Baltimore Leadership
School for Young Women (BLSYW) is a charter school of choice open to
all
Baltimore City young women. |

| BLSYW is looking for girls
who: |

| Are eligible
for promotion to the 6th grade |
| Desire to
attend an all girls school with rigorous academic reqirements |
| Desire
educational and personal guidance programs to prepare them for college |
| Accept the
school mission, goals and operating standards |
| Have a strong
interest in community and desire to develop leadership skills |
| Will adhere to
the uniform requirements. |

How does the application procedure work?
|
|
|
| 1. |
Caregiver
and prospective applicant attend Information/Informed Choice Session. |
|
|
| 2. |
Complete
and return the BLSYW Information Session Sheet to the school before the
deadline. |
|
|
| 3. |
The
applicant will be entered into a lottery from which names will be drawn
for admission to the school. |
|
|
| 4. |
The
school mails letters of acceptance. Sudents and parents must sign and
return the letter to the school indicating that they agree to enroll in
BLSYW. |
|
|
| 5. |
Once
the signed letter is received, students will be sent an information
packet on the BLSYW Summer Orientation Program. |
|
|
|
|
What criteria are used in making admissions
decisions?
|
|
|
|
| There are no admissions criteria for BLSYW.
Parent involvement is critical to the success of BLSYW. We expect that
each and every child has a caregiver that understands, accepts and
supports the BLSYW culture.
We encourage all students to apply.
